Description

Manage repossession inventory by reviewing accounts prior to repossession, handing accounts during repossession, and handling post-repossession processes. Make financial decisions regarding repossessions to ensure best decision is made for the organization. Assist in training and development of team.

SCHEDULE

Monday-Friday 9:30a-6:00pm w/ Rotating Saturdays 9:00am-3:30pm

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

This is a Hybrid position with 2 days in office 2 days remote and rotating in office/remote Fridays

To be effective, an individual must be able to perform each job duty successfully.

  • Ensure all necessary notices are sent prior to repossession assignment and Mountain America is listed as lienholder on collateral.
  • Assign collateral to appropriate repossession agents for pick up.
  • Complete necessary skip tracing when repossession agents are unable to locate and secure collateral. If skip tracing efforts have been exhausted review account to be referred to 3rd party skip tracing agency or submit to Team Lead or Assistant Manager for charge off review.
  • Monitor e mails or handle phone calls from repossession agents or auctions to approve or deny mileage, flatbed, key, and other miscellaneous fees.
  • Work with Assistant Manager – Collections on assisting branches and corporate teams with overrides.
  • Assist in the monitoring of repossession exception reporting identifying possible issues and recommending solutions at an account level detail.
  • Processes Notice of Sale letters and ensure the credit union is following all State and Federal Laws.
  • Review repossessed collateral after arriving at the auction to determine if insurance claim for damage or mechanical repair is necessary and set appropriate floor price.
  • Work with auctions to create sale schedule monthly.
  • Represent Mountain America Credit Union at auction and oversee the sale of collateral to ensure collateral is ready to be sold, in the best possible condition to be sold, and that collateral is sold at the highest amount possible.
  • Oversee member redemptions on repossessed collateral when necessary.
  • Review Impound Notices and work with member or Impound agent to determine next course of action with collateral. Negotiate bail-out amount with Impound yard when necessary.
  • Assist Team Lead or Assistant Manager on training of new employees and special projects.
  • Back up to Team Lead or Assistant Manager when needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES

Experience

  • Three years of experience in a customer service / call center environment, working in a financial industry preferred.
  • At least one year of repossession experience preferred.

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent certification

Computer/Office Equipment Skills

Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel

Language Skills

  • Must have the ability to read, understand and carry out instructions in written and oral form
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally verbally and in written form
  • Ability to handle and de-escalate situations
  • Able to collaborate and work well in a team environment
  • Strong negotiation skills preferred

Other Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrated working knowledge of automobile finance, collections, loan services and/or specialty areas preferred.
  • Familiarity with indirect loan documentation, i.e., contracts, ancillary products, certificates, bankruptcies preferred.
  • Database skills preferred.
  • High attention to detail; able to methodically review the execution of procedures and identify issues.
  • Ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively
  • Self-starter with time management skills and the ability to work productively and efficiently
  • Take initiative to be a problem solver and provide suggestions to improve processes and efficiencies.
  • Possess a desire and willingness to learn and continually update knowledge base on job related processes
  • Excellent inter-personal skills including the ability to lead and collaborate with team
  • Fluent in Spanish preferred
